Andi Smith is distinguished by at least two traits that allow her, in a manner of speaking, to sneak up on an audience and land a long series of surprising, forceful blows to its funny bone; Wholly fresh material and an unusual, languid delivery that telegraphs into some unusual territory and big laughs. A combination of the girl next door and the girl that hates the girl next door, Andi’s comedy has nothing to do with mammograms or cats.

You may have seen Andi in action on TV: She was featured in the 2007 and 2008 season of “Last Comic Standing,” and on Comedy Central’s “Live At Gotham.” You can also find her work online in any number of places, most notably perhaps on Rooftop Comedy (www.rooftopcomedy.com), the Internet company she co-founded that specializes in producing and distributing comedy. Andi has also released a comedy CD, “Homeperm” that captures a sharp performance of the aforementioned inventive material. But we doubt she’ll take exception to the assertion that the best way, still, to experience Andi Smith’s comedy is live, in a club.
